TIVERTON Blue Cross's longest staying resident is in need of a new home.

Tilly, a 12-year-old long-hair moggy, has been at the centre since May after being found on the side of the road in the pouring rain with a matted coat and her eyes clouded with music.

Tilly did have a microchip, but the Blue Cross was unable to track down her owners. It is thought she had been a stray for around two years.

She was taken straight to the vets where she would found to be suffering from a long term condition affecting her tear ducts, something she will have to live with for the rest of her life.

Kerry Hall, Animal Welfare Assistant, said: “Tilly’s first two months in the care of Blue Cross showed us that she very much enjoyed sleeping in the sun, she loved being around her handlers and being stroked.

“Sadly though, after a few weeks in the cattery Tilly became down in the dumps and she no longer wanted to play with any toys.”

"Fortunately, one of the centre’s volunteers offered to foster Tilly in the hope a home environment would make her happy again.

“After a short period of time, Tilly began to show improvement and started to play with toys again and she is now very relaxed in her foster home. "What she really needs though, is a new permanent home. Tilly does not look or act like a 12-year-old cat, but she certainly does love her home comforts.”

Tilly will need to be well looked after as she requires eye drops three times a day and regular eye cleaning. Her ideal owner would be someone who is around for most of the day and has experience with cats. She would be suited to a home with older children and needs to be the only pet.
