A CULLOMPTON restaurant is encouraging diners not to drink and drive, by offering them a ride home in a tuk-tuk.

The China Orchids will be starting it's tuk-tuk service from Friday, June 3. Those wishing to use the service can book the ride in when they book their meal.

The restaurant would like people to give the tuk-tuk a friendly wave if they see it on it's first night of work. They promise a comfortable and fun ride.

Robbie Ho, owner of the China Orchids, said: "Customers are very excited, they are booking in already.

"Customers might want to have a drink in my restaurant and then they cant drive home, but now I can take my VIPs home."

China Orchids, home of Cantonese, Peking and Szechuan cuisines, takes bookings for large groups as well as couples. The bamboo bar environment allows for a tranquil dining experience, but those wishing to book in advance have the choice from three dining rooms, the Orchid, Peony or Chrysanthemum room.

There will be a four mile limit on drives in the tuk-tuk, but the service is free of charge.

After the launch of the tuk-tuk rides, the restaurant will be starting a delivery service next month.
