A TEENAGER from Tiverton was assaulted following an attempted mugging along a canal path.

Devon and Cornwall Police have launched a witness appeal following the attack, which happened on Friday, May 20 along the Grand Western Canal Tow Path.

The incident took place on the path between Tidcombe Bridge and the main canal basin between 7.10pm and 7.20pm.

The victim, a 17-year-old local boy, received minor injuries after a demand was made for him to hand over his belongings.

No items were taken by the suspect who is described as being a white male, 5ft 10ins in height and of average build.

He was wearing a dark hooded top.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area between 7pm and 7.45pm and has any information relevant to this investigation.
