GARY Stevenson became the first individual to win a main event at Padbrook Park in 2015 as he took the January Stableford.

The nine-handicapper birdied both the 4th and 16th holes on his way to a score of 38 points. On a day of good scoring, he beat Tom Evans by a point.

Evans birdied the 17th, but dropped a shot on the last as he returned a 37 point total. Curtis Edwards topped the birdie count with four but had to settle for third place.

Sam Palmer won the pro shop Stableford speed challenge. Players were set the task of scoring as many points as possible in a three hour period.

Palmer and Ashley Pym both completed their round in the allotted time and scored 33 points. The youngster won thanks to better scores on the closing holes.

The event is designed to show how quickly a round can be completed as the sport tries to find ways of reducing the amount of time that players need to spend on a round.
