JAKE Smith from Blundell’s School will be making his debut at national level when he represents Devon’s Senior Boys team at the English Schools Cross County Championships in Blackburn tomorrow (Saturday).
Jake, who completed a half marathon as a 16-year-old, finished second in the Devon championships, making double schools international William Battershill of Ivybridge work hard for the title.
Also in the Devon team is Uffculme’s Finley McClear, last year’s county junior champion, who finished 45 in the national championships in 2014.
McClear, who is in a hot vein of form, finished second behind Jack Gregor-ious in the Devon intermediate championships.
