A SOMERSET resident has branded the decision to close the public toilets in Cheddar as "disgusting."
The resident said: "I find it absolutely disgusting that Somerset Council have closed the toilets in Cheddar.
“I walk up the gorge most days and see buses taking children and pensioners for a 'day out'.
"Cars full of children - where are these people going to go - in someone's back garden or against a tree!
“Somerset is full of new houses so where is the poll tax going - on someone's pension or missed managed ideas!”
A Somerset Council spokesperson said: "Following positive discussions with Cheddar Parish Council and local businesses, some interim funding has been agreed to ensure the Dagshole block of toilets in the town will remain open until early May.
"Somerset Council would like to thank all stakeholders for their partnership work, which allows time for a more permanent solution for facilities in Cheddar to be found.
"Please note that the toilet blocks in Station Road and at the Cliffs car park are closed.’
